Like Him, Like my Dead Shepherd

Michael Dennis Browne

This summer I grow
heavy like him,
my bones thicken,

my mass increases.
Wading out of the lake
I shake myself,

shake shake shake
till the white hairs fly.
Home again, I settle

down on the floor
in the corner
with a groan.
