3AM, I'm instant awake - Lord,
I've left the car in the ramp in town
with the children inside,
with the engine on as I ran...
No, that's not... left it
at a meter on Washington,
just under a NO PARKING sign,
the cops by now...

No... slow down... look, the children
are here, count them, they're fine,
look, the car's here, we made it,
we're four hours north of town,
and listen - a bird just began...
now it's stopped. Damn. I'll
have to jump up, go jam
more coins in that pine.
