Pepper
after the Sephardic Ballad Morenica sos
Haworth Hodgkinson
How I ache for the taste of pepper
Freshly crushed against lips and tongue,
Such intense fire devouring in a moment of bliss
The body and soul of pain.
When I hear your voice singing from afar
I imagine the pepper that courses through your blood,
Every inch of your pepper skin
Aflame with the heat inside.
How I ache for the taste of pepper....
